Section Sketch

Per Enno's comments on our phone call I tried to show in red, pockets of horizontality when people are moving up the ramp they could go off into these lounges and sit on a couch or check e-mail and hang out. There are also some columns added for the structure.

Nice section drawing, Curtis. It goes a long way toward showing the relationships between some of your spaces. I like the way you're thinking about the columns too, and how they follow the grain of your building form.

Curtis,

You visualized what we talked about convincingly and quickly!
Excellent!

Curtis,

I came across this in some of my research and I think it may posess some visual qualities that you are conveying in your design. Check out Nouvel's Musee du Quai Branly in Paris. Do a quick google image search of the project name and you'll quickly see what I am talking about.

Nice Images!

Curtis -

Two things that this section illustrates that I am really liking for your project:

1. I love that you have chosen to bring an element of the green space into the building itself. I see that you had that on one of your previous sections, now, but this is the first time it has registered with me. I think that is very critical to making your indoor spaces successful.

2. I really like how the structure seems to be developing. The vertical columns have taken a very nice organic quality to them - not really "Tree like" but more of a freeform. Very very successful.

I wonder if there is anything that would be gained by varying some of the volumes - that is the heights of the spaces within each of your "pod". Right now they look pretty uniform in height - as the site slopes, so does the roof of the building, thus leaving effectively similar height spaces as I travel the building. I don't know if you have studied that already, and as I said I'm not sure if anything would be gained from it, but its a thought.

Thanks by the way for your analysis on my elevations. Never feel the need to stop commenting/criticizing I need and respect all the thoughts and directions you could give.

Carry on....t-minus 9 days to go....!

Curtis,
Looks good. I would like to see some people moving through the space similar to your last sections. I agree with Eric about dividing up the spaces. Sounds like you and Enno must have been defining them already. The red points make sense. I wonder if there are more area's that you can define. Good luck.
