From a diagrammatic standpoint, I really like the b/w plan, and its positive / negative space connotations. Maybe there is a way to incorporate a small version of that, abstracted, into one of your final board images. It's a simple and effective way of quickly communicating one of your project's biggest ideas.

Why don't you add existing green spaces here and show your footprints in green? That way you'll get another dimension into the drawing.
